Risk Management Engineer (All Levels)
SUMMARY
Build, maintain, and use computer applications to support the station’s Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA) models and Risk-Informed Applications.
EDUCATION
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology (Required). Nuclear Engineering discipline is preferred.
• Master’s degree in technical discipline (Preferred).
EXPERIENCE
• Experience will determine the position/title and are listed below in the POSITIONS section.
• Experience in PRA or the nuclear industry is preferred.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS
• No certifications are required. SRO certification or license is preferred.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• Probabilistic Risk Assessment: Maintain configuration control of the STP Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA) models to reflect the as- built, as-operated plant and ensure the PRA models meet appropriate industry and regulatory standards. Prepare and review procedures, calculations, safety evaluations, and technical computer codes. Perform reviews of operating experience reports and Technical Specification changes. Provide PRA analysis to support plant operations. Use technical computer codes to obtain or evaluate station events.
• Risk Informed Applications: Maintain STP risk-informed applications in accordance with regulatory requirements. Provide required technical analysis, software, and procedure processes to enable the station to effectively implement STP risk-informed applications, including the Configuration Risk Management Program, Risk Managed Technical Specifications, Graded Quality Assurance, and Surveillance Frequency Control Program.
• Develop methodology, computer codes, and calculations, as necessary, to perform PRA analyses.
• Prepare and review procedures, calculations, safety evaluations, and technical computer codes. Perform reviews of operating experience reports and license amendment changes. As required, prepare technical reports to be submitted to EPRI, INPO, and NRC.
• Provide engineering expertise when required to support complex plant issues or requests for assistance from other site organizations.
• Attend and complete station, department or section required training as necessary for the position and as directed by immediate supervision.
• Act as "CHAMPION" for nuclear safety risk and configuration risk management. Advocate equipment health with an emphasis on improving overall plant performance and reliability.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
• Accept ERO position as assigned and be able to meet the time response requirements.
• Accept outage position as assigned.
• Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access.
• Successfully complete General Employee Training (GET) as required for position.
• Support rotational engineering duty.
SPECIAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION POSTED
• Knowledge in the use of Phoenix Architect suite (CAFTA, PRAQuant, FTREX, Phoenix RM) is preferred and well as MAAP and HRA Calculator. RISKMAN and SAFETY MONITOR software experience is desirable.
• Strong written and verbal communications skills required.
• Ability to work independently and interface with all levels of personnel required.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering documents and drawings.
• STAFF and higher positions must have a working knowledge of PRA theory, concepts, methodology, and technical approaches.
WORKING CONDITIONS
• Overtime and alternate work schedules as assigned.
• Subject to callouts twenty-four hours per day seven days per week.
• Travel (including overnight stay) may be required for business trips and training depending on the position.
• May be required to carry a phone.

• Site – Due to the nature of the work, this position requires work to be performed in the field and/or at the work site.

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology. (Preferred)
EXPERIENCE

Sr Engineer/Spec Plant Eng
EDUCATION
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology. (Preferred)
EXPERIENCE
• 3 years of engineering, maintenance or operations experience in which 2 years is nuclear power related. (Required)
Staff Engineer/Spec Plant Eng
EDUCATION
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology. (Preferred)
EXPERIENCE
• 5 years of engineering, maintenance or operations experience in which 3 years is nuclear power related. (Required)
Consulting Engineer/Spec Plant Eng
EDUCATION
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology. (Preferred)
EXPERIENCE
• 8 years of engineering, maintenance or operations experience in which 4 years is nuclear power related. (Required)
Principal Engineer/Spec Plant Eng
EDUCATION
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology. (Preferred)
EXPERIENCE
• 12 years of engineering, maintenance or operations experience in which 5 years is nuclear power related. (Required)
• Engineering Management Team and GM approval is required to advance to Principal Engineer level.
