SUMMARY

Provides development and improvement for specified activities in Chemistry and recommends/implements changes to Chemistry programs and procedures. Performs analytical method development, instrument troubleshooting and repair, and self-assessments. Trends and evaluates plant chemistry. Supports effectiveness, operability and reportability reviews, 10CFR50.59 screenings, and Unreviewed Safety Question Evaluations.

 

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry (Required)
  • Other: Without degree, 5 years’ experience at a nuclear facility in Chemistry. (Required)

 

EXPERIENCE

  • Specialist Chemistry level- 2 Years + operational experience at a nuclear facility in a technical position in Chemistry. (Required)
  • Specialist Chemistry Sr. level- 5 Years + operational experience at a nuclear facility in a technical position in Chemistry. (Required)
  • Specialist Chemistry Staff level- 8 Years + operational experience at a nuclear facility in a technical position in Chemistry. (Required)

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

CHEMISTRY SPECIALIST:

  • Performs analytical method development, instrument troubleshooting and repair.
  • Carries out assignments requiring the development of new or improved analytical methods and procedures, resulting in the development of new refined equipment, processes, and / or scientific methods.
  • Assist in implementation of instrument control program by reviewing and trending instrument Quality control data.
  • Support the Corrective Action Program (CAP) and own conditions in area of expertise.
  • Performs self-assessments of Chemistry programs and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Reads and interprets engineering drawings and design documents.
  • Coordinate interlaboratory analyses such as ASTM, NWT, and MAP programs.

 

CHEMISTRY SPECIALIST - SENIOR:

  • Performs high level chemical analytical method development, instrument troubleshooting and repair.
  • Carries out assignments requiring the development of new or improved analytical methods and procedures, resulting in the development of new refined equipment, processes, and / or scientific methods.
  • Assist in implementation of instrument control program by reviewing and trending instrument quality control data. Develops training scenarios and presents training to Chemistry personnel.
  • Support the Corrective Action Program (CAP) and own conditions in area of expertise.
  • Directs self-assessments of Chemistry programs and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Reads and interprets engineering drawings and design documents.
  • Manage technical projects and prepares / presents reports and summaries of activities to management.
  • Coordinate interlaboratory analyses such as ASTM, NWT, and MAP programs.

 

CHEMISTRY SPECIALIST - STAFF:

  • Directs and oversees chemical analytical method development, instrument troubleshooting and repair.
  • Carries out assignments requiring the development of new or improved analytical methods and procedures, resulting in the development of new refined equipment, processes, and / or scientific methods.
  • Assist in implementation of instrument control program by reviewing and trending instrument quality control data. Develops training scenarios and presents training to Chemistry personnel.
  • Conducts Condition Report investigations and initiates associated investigation reports.
  • Directs self-assessments of Chemistry programs and provide recommendations for improvement. Develops departmental procedures.
  • Reads and interprets engineering drawings and design documents.
  • Interface with Vendors for maintenance and purchase of instruments.
  • Manage technical projects and prepares / presents reports and summaries of activities to management.

 

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Accept ERO position as needed.
  • Accept outage position as needed.
  • Maintain and Operate Post Accident Sampling System.
  • Participate in industry seminars and workshops to maintain knowledge of factors affecting instrument performance.
  • Support cooling water chemical injection systems operation.
