SUMMARY
Supports the chemistry department to maintain plant chemistry within required limits by analyzing specific parameters and making recommendations to the appropriate personnel.
Assists with chemical and radiochemistry sampling and analysis, and performs Technical Specification Surveillance's as required.
EDUCATION
High School/GED or equivalent (Required)
Some university or post-secondary education (Preferred)
Other: Navy Nuclear Program Engineering Laboratory Technician (Preferred)
EXPERIENCE
2 Years related job experience (Required)
2 Years related job experience in the direct sampling and analysis of Chemistry treated systems in a power plant or Nuclear Navy. Nuclear commercial power plant chemistry technician experience or Navy ELT experience (Preferred)
LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS
Not Applicable, no certifications are required or preferred.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Supports the activities of the operations and maintenance department personnel.
Performs Technical Specification Surveillance's as required.
Performs chemistry and radiochemistry sampling and analysis, as required using standard techniques and approved procedures.
Maintains required logs, charts, and records on assigned work shift. Obtains and records on line monitor readings.
Obtains and maintains qualification and proficiency in the Primary, Secondary, and counting laboratories.
Performs standardizations and checks on all laboratory and processes monitoring instruments as scheduled.
Reports to supervision when a condition is detected which may result in equipment damage or failure, personnel injury, or regulatory violation, including out of specification chemistry conditions.
Initiates corrective action in the form of work requests for broken or malfunctioning chemistry sampling equipment.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
Accept ERO position as needed.
Accept outage position as needed.
SPECIAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access.
Knowledge of systems, sampling, analysis, and instrumentation for aspects of commercial nuclear power plant operation with regards to chemistry.
Ability to meet and maintain qualifications required for use of a respirator and self-contained breathing apparatus.
Ability to use formulas involving unit analysis, algebra and logarithms to solve problems and develop procedures.
