Manager Design Engineering
SUMMARY The Design Engineering Manager position assumes responsibility for the development, implementation and administration of projects and programs that are assigned to the Design Engineering Department. Essential responsibilities for this position include providing strategic direction to the department, ensuring design products in support of operations, maintenance, and strategic projects organizations are performed in a timely manner, are complete, and with appropriate technical rigor. The design products are essential to disposition of degraded/non-conforming conditions and to maintain plant reliability.
•Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Required). Mechanical, Electrical, Nuclear, Chemical, or Civil Engineering is preferred.
•Master’s degree in technical discipline (Preferred).
•12 years engineering or maintenance or operations experience in which 8 years is in a nuclear power plant (Required)
•4 years' experience in Design Engineering organization. (Required)
Note: One (1) year experience may be credited for an engineering Master’s Degree, two (2) years' experience may be credited for an engineering PhD degree.
•Texas Professional Engineering License is preferred.
•Responsible for providing leadership for design, maintaining documentation, and process improvement.
•Collaborate with Key Stakeholders on design projects.
•Oversees complex safety evaluations and significant hazards review for plant issues.
•Provides Technical oversight for degraded/non-conforming component disposition, including extent of the condition and its effect on the component's ability to perform the required design function.
•Reviews and approves causal investigations to condition reports for completeness and required actions.
•Reviews and approves engineering documentation (e.g.: calculations, specifications, analysis, drawings, evaluations, etc.).
•Is responsible for the site's configuration management program.
•Design Authority for the Station.
•Ensures industry documentation and event reports for relevant application to STP and identify appropriate actions for STP are performed.
•Ensures Design Department activities are maintained within allocated schedule and budget.
•Performs duties of the Engineering General Manager as delegated.
•Provides senior management briefings on topics in areas of responsibilities for Design Engineering Department.
•Reviews and approves reportability and operability reviews of station issues and ensures they are evaluated to applicable regulatory requirements
•Perform reviews of operating experience reports and license amendment changes. Provides oversight for technical reports to be submitted to EPRI, INPO, and NRC.•Provides strategic oversight and plans for Design Engineering Department.
•Attend and complete station, department or section required training as necessary for the position.
•Accept ERO position as assigned and be able to meet the time response requirements.
•Accept outage position as assigned.

•Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access.
•Strong written and verbal communications skills required.
•Ability to work independently and interface with all levels of personnel required.
•Ability to read and interpret engineering documents and drawings.
•Knowledge of design, operations, maintenance, and testing, preferably nuclear power.
•Ability to use a personal computer and use of word processing and spreadsheet software.
