 Electrical Maintenance Internship Program

Summary
STP’s Electrical Maintenance Internship Program is designed for students who want to gain practical experience in the maintenance and troubleshooting of electrical systems within a nuclear power plant. The program offers exposure to electrical maintenance tasks, equipment calibration, and system optimization, providing students with the hands-on experience required to maintain plant electrical systems and enhance plant reliability.

Responsibilities
The intern will assist the electrical maintenance team in ensuring the optimal performance and safety of electrical systems.
Responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with the inspection, testing, and maintenance of electrical systems, including transformers, circuit breakers, and power distribution equipment.
  • Supporting troubleshooting efforts and the repair of electrical components to minimize downtime and ensure system reliability.
  • Assisting with preventive maintenance tasks and the development of maintenance schedules.
  • Supporting the calibration and testing of electrical equipment to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Reviewing electrical schematics and technical documentation to aid in troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Documenting maintenance activities and supporting the maintenance management system.

Requirements

  • Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access to South Texas Project Electric Generating Station.
  • U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency.
  • Currently enrolled in a 2-year or 4-year institution and pursuing a degree in Electrical Maintenance or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Basic understanding of electrical maintenance practices, troubleshooting techniques, and safety protocols.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety in all tasks.
  • Must be in good academic standing with your school.
