Intern Ops (4 Positions)
Summary
STP’s Operations Internship Program is designed to provide students with hands-on experience in the operations of a commercial nuclear power plant. This program offers a comprehensive understanding of power plant operations, safety protocols, and system management. Interns will gain valuable exposure to the day-to-day activities that ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient production of electricity. The Operations Internship is ideal for students pursuing careers in energy production, plant operations, or industrial engineering.
Responsibilities
The intern will work closely with the operations team to support plant activities and gain exposure to various operational functions.
Responsibilities will include:
• Assisting with the monitoring of plant systems and processes to ensure smooth, safe, and efficient operations.
• Supporting the team with data collection, analysis, and reporting to optimize plant performance.
• Assisting in the preparation and review of operational logs and reports to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Supporting the implementation of safety and quality assurance procedures within the plant.
• Observing and participating in the maintenance of plant systems, identifying areas for improvement in operations and safety practices.
• Participating in the preparation for scheduled maintenance outages and system testing.
• Assisting with troubleshooting operational issues and ensuring plant equipment is functioning within designated parameters.
Requirements
• Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access to South Texas Project Electric Generating Station.
• U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency.
• Currently enrolled in a 2-year or 4-year institution and pursuing a degree in Nuclear Technology, Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of power plant operations and basic engineering principles is a plus.
• Must be in good academic standing with your school.
