Reactor Engineering - Engineer (Refuel System Engineer). 

SUMMARY
The Component Engineer works in the Plant Engineering department and is responsible for development and implementation of programs and initiatives related to the assigned component. The Component Engineer provides technical support to Operations, Maintenance, and Purchasing personnel.

EXPERIENCE

LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS
•    There is no Licensure or Certification required. No certifications are required. 
•    SRO certification or license (P referred).

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
•    Responsible for development and implementation of equipment reliability initiatives.
•    Responsible for development and implementation of programs that maintain and demonstrate regulatory compliance.
•    Responsible for reliability/obsolescence improvements.
•    Provides technical support for on-site and off-site maintenance of the assigned component.
•    Responsible for optimizing preventative and predictive maintenance activities.
•    Responsible for long-term monitoring and trending of plant parameters related to the assigned component.
•    Supports parts procurement and offsite repair activities related to the assigned component including repair specification development, bid evaluations, and repair plan approvals.
•    Collaborate with Purchasing, Maintenance, Operations and Systems/Design Engineering.
•    Prepares and reviews engineering documentation (drawings, design changes, engineering evaluations)
•    Prepares and reviews non-conforming or degraded component dispositions. Evaluates the extent of the condition and its effect on the component's ability to perform the required design function.
•    Supports Root Cause and Apparent Cause Evaluations and recommends corrective actions.
•    Reviews and evaluates vendor and industry documentation and event reports for relevant application to STP and identify appropriate corrective actions.

SPECIAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATIONS
•    Strong written and verbal communications skills required.
•    Ability to work independently and interface with all levels of personnel required.
•    Ability to read and interpret engineering documents and drawings

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
•    Accept ERO position as assigned and be able to meet the time response requirements (75 min response time to Technical Support Center).
•    Accept outage position as assigned.
•    Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access.
•    Successfully complete General Employee Training (GET) as required for position.
•    Support rotational engineering duty.

WORKING CONDITIONS
•    Overtime and alternate work schedules as assigned.
•    Subject to callouts twenty-four hours per day seven days per week.
•    Travel (including overnight stay) may be required for business trips and training depending on the position.
•    May be required to carry a phone.

WORK LOCATION
•    Site/Remote on a limited basis – Due to the nature of the work, this position requires work to be performed in the field and/or at the work site.

•    Bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology. (Required)
EXPERIENCE
•    No experience is required

Engineer In Training II (EIT II)

EDUCATION
•    Bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology. (Required)
EXPERIENCE    
•    6 months engineering, maintenance or operations experience. (Required)

Engineer/Spec Plant Eng

EDUCATION
•    Bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology. (Preferred)
EXPERIENCE
•    1 year of engineering, maintenance or operations experience. (Required)

Sr Engineer/Spec Plant Eng

EDUCATION
•    Bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology. (Preferred)
EXPERIENCE
•    3 years of engineering, maintenance or operations experience in which 2 years is nuclear power related. (Required)

Staff Engineer/Spec Plant Eng

EDUCATION
•    Bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology. (Preferred)
EXPERIENCE    
•    5 years of engineering, maintenance or operations experience in which 3 years is nuclear power related. (Required)

Consulting Engineer/Spec Plant Eng

EDUCATION
•    Bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology. (Preferred)
EXPERIENCE
•    8 years of engineering, maintenance or operations experience in which 4 years is nuclear power related. (Required)

Principal Engineer/Spec Plant Eng

EDUCATION
•    Bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology. (Preferred)
EXPERIENCE
•    12 years of engineering, maintenance or operations experience in which 5 years is nuclear power related. (Required)
•    Engineering Management Team and GM approval is required to advance to Principal Engineer level.

Note 1: One (1) year experience may be credited for an engineering Master’s degree, two (2) years’ experience may be credited for an engineering PhD degree. Engineering intern experience may be credited one-for-one for engineering experience, i.e., 1 month engineering internship may count as 1 month engineering experience at the discretion of the applicable Engineering Manager.

Note 2: The number of years of experience listed above represent the minimum unless approved otherwise by the GM of Engineering on a case-by-case basis; additional years of experience may be required to earn promotion at the discretion of the applicable Engineering Manager.
