Supervisor Employee Communications
SUMMARY
Direct and oversee STP’s Employee Communications. This position is responsible for the day-to-day employee communications strategy and execution. This position requires strong leadership and communications experience. Strong supervisory experience and exceptional writing and layout/design skills are required.
This supervisory position will work closely with STP senior leadership and internal clients on strategic planning, writing and project management of strategic initiatives.
Responsible for the development and execution of a wide range of communication products and collateral materials for both internal and external audiences. Works closely with company officers and senior leadership to ensure communication efforts are aligned with strategic priorities.
EDUCATION
Minimum Bachelor’s degree in (preferably) English, Journalism, Marketing, Graphic Design, Communications or Business Management.
EXPERIENCE
7+ Years progressively responsible supervisory/managerial roles executing strategic communications - planning, writing, measurement/metrics and overall leadership experience. Utility communications and supervisory or management experience a plus.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS
There is no Certification or Licensure required.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervise and coordinate the development and implantation of STP's employee communications programs.

Oversee employee communication platforms and strategies by developing strategic communications plans/messages and tactical implementation on company issues.

Manage the day-to-day activities of STP’s Corporate Communications organization.

Collaborate closely with the General Manager, Corporate Communications and External Affairs and senior leadership across the company to identify emergent issues and develop and lead internal communication strategies to support the company's business goals.

Serve as recognized advisor, expert in strategic communications issues to senior leadership. Work with General Manager, Corporate Communications and External Affairs to coordinate and provide strategic guidance.

Provide excellent communications consultation support in order to competently recommend best means to communicate targeted messages to specific audiences (i.e. managers/supervisors, all employees).

Ensure consistency of message, accuracy, timeliness and clarity across all employee communication platforms. Ensure communication style, approach and messages are consistent with STP’s facilitative and collaborative culture.

Manage employee communications budget.

Provides constructive feedback to supervision and peers on issues that affect productivity and employee morale. Motivates team personnel to support team and station goals.

Assume an Emergency Response Organization position.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

Fills in for General Manager Communications and External Affairs as assigned.

Broad understanding and knowledge of communications technology and platforms, photography, layout, video and graphics for managing intranet sites.

Strong experience and specific knowledge of best practices in strategic communications are highly desired.

Provide leadership and direction to responsible organization.

Perform personnel activities for direct reports (promotions, salary changes, counseling, performance appraisals, development plans).

Monitor organizational activities, evaluate impact of internal and external factors (e.g., technology, regulations, business environment) and implements response plans.

Budget for ongoing and future expenses and monitor budget performance.

Provide employees with tools and training necessary for them to perform their assignments.

Resolves problems and interpersonal conflicts in the section.

Represents department/company on internal work teams and committees and with external entities.

Maintains composure in high stress or adverse situations.

SPECIAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access.

Exceptional interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills. Ability to give oral presentations to technical and non-technical groups in a positive, credible manner.

Must be an exceptional writer and editor thoroughly skilled in AP style writing and other diverse writing styles including online stories/web content, speeches, op-eds, presentations, message creation, and correspondence and employee memos.

Ability to work under tight deadlines while gathering information and presenting recommendations to various levels of employees. Excellent organizational skills, self-directed and innovative.

Must have experience and credibility working with senior leadership. Also, the ability to understand and work in broad subject areas; sound judgment; utmost discretion and sense of urgency.

Strong computer skills with knowledge of current station software (Adobe Creative Suite, word processing, database and presentation – Mac environment)

WORKING CONDITIONS

Overtime and alternate work schedules as needed.

Subject to callouts twenty-four hours per day, seven days per week.
